Alt Key

Alternate Key - Located on either side of the Spacebar.

Arrow (Cursor) Keys

Used to move the cursor around on the screen.

Ctrl Key

Control Key - Found at the bottom left and right of the main body of keys.

F Keys
|

Function Keys - Most are preprogrammed, some can be user programmed for common shortcuts.

Menu Key

Located below the right Shift key, this is the same as Right-Clicking with the mouse.

Numeric Keypad

Used for typing in numbers quicker or with the Num Lock key off doubles as Arrow Keys.

Page Keys

Insert, Home, Page Up, Delete, End, Page Down Also found on the Numeric Keypad when Num Lock is off.

Windows Key
|
|
Between the Ctrl and Alt keys, this key has many specific functions for Windows.

Common Program Short-Cut Keys:
[+] This is used when keys are to be pressed simultaneously. [-] This is used when keys are to be pressed in succession.

Copy

Ctrl+C
|
Copies the currently highlighted item.
|

Cut

Ctrl+X
|
Removes the currently highlighted item to be Pasted elsewhere.

Paste

Ctrl+V
|
Pastes the Copied or Cut item to where the cursor is located.

Print
|
Ctrl+P
|
Prints the current document, page, image, etc. A few programs will print highlighted items.

Select All
|
Ctrl+A
|
Selects all the text on the current page or document.

Undo

Ctrl+Z
|
Undoes the last command performed.

Creates a new file.

Press Once - Brings up the Close Program window. Press Twice - Reboots the computer.

Minimizes current program to Task Bar.

Maximizes current program to full screen.

|
Restores window to normal size from a maximized window.
